METRO AVIATION Inc. SELECTS CAE FLIGHTSCAPE for FLIGHT DATA ANALYSIS

CAE Flightscape (Ottawa) and Metro Aviation Inc. (Louisiana) are pleased to announce that Metro Aviation has selected CAE Flightscape to provide the analytical solution component for its recently established Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) program. Metro Aviation recently began operating a fleet of EC145 aircraft that Cleveland Metro Life Flight chose to equip with the CFDVR system from ECD. Metro Aviation, Inc. Managing Director, Milton Geltz, stated ‘the CAE Flightscape system will be used to analyze flight data to identify unsafe trends, to develop corrective safety actions and to monitor the effectiveness of our safety actions. Of particular interest is the ability to overlay actual flight data from multiple flights against an established baseline flight path.‘ Mike Poole, Executive Director & Chief Investigator for CAE Flightscape stated ‘Metro Aviation is among the first in the air medical transportation operations industry to implement flight data analysis as a proactive safety management system and we applaud their leadership.’

Two of Metro Aviation’s four EC145’s are in operation with the third expected to be operational in mid October after a ECD/AEC/MAI joint program to evaluate the addition of WAAS capability to the EC145. A fourth ship is expected to enter the operation in Mid March 2010. Metro Aviation, Inc. and CAE Flightscape are also working with Outerlink to add data retrieval from the Outerlink OVVR (Outerlink Voice and Video Recorder) that all Metro Aviation, Inc. aircraft are either equiped with or in the process of being upgraded to. This will enable Metro Aviation to bring their entire fleet into the FOQA program.
